Future of Dentistry is Digitalization

There is a drastic shift in dentistry towards digitalization. Adoption of this latest form of practice has made it possible for the whole dental fraternity to work more efficiently and at a greater pace. Since the technology is new it requires a separate set of skills and knowledge to make the best use of the same. However, change in any form always brings new challenges.

In the following text, we will be discussing the basic needs and features of this newest zone of technology.

Dental professionals should be adequately trained to use all-new digital dental tools. Along with the knowledge of basic dentistry, the dental student should now also get the training for the latest technologies such as CAD/CAM, 3d printing, etc.

There is a constant increase in competition among dentists to work as a single unit and provide almost all the facilities under one roof. For instance, digital tools such as intra-oral scanners, milling machines for prosthetic restorations are becoming common tools to be seen in a dental clinic.

The communication format between a practitioner and the patient is changing. Now the patient can understand their treatment plan and the actual picture of the same clearly with the help of images taken with scanners and processed with various software.

For the safety of patients, the various governing bodies which are meant for quality assurance and quality control will be keeping a strict eye on the usage of these technologies so that the one which is being used is genuine and authentic.

Though it seems that digitalization of our routine dental practices would ask for a handsome amount and return might be difficult but the one who once goes through this tunnel of new shape would come out with better solutions to change the form of their dental practice.
